The parish of Touaourou was founded in 1888. The presbytery is listed in the inventory of historic buildings in South province.
In 1954 the old church was replaced by another larger and more durable one. This was consecrated on 8 December 1957 by Monsignor Martin.

In 1930 the church still has its thatched roof, white and embellished with purple lines. Today, interior light dominates the white walls of the church, where pastel is king.
