  • The cathedral banyan tree, a kind of chimney 25m high, is the highlight of this trail! You can also see a beautiful waterfall from the extension.

  • This 12.2 km trail, which takes 4 hours and 45 minutes to complete, is not very difficult. It begins on a wide trail and climbs steadily to the pine tree area (marker #2). You will reach the carpolepis area (landmark n°4) and continue on the trail on your left to enter the rainforest under the shade of tree ferns. The cathedral banyan tree, a remarkable point of interest, is worth the 3 minute detour. At the Houp area (landmark n° 29), you can take the transversal of the Monnier peak to join the Monnier peak path and come back more quickly to the reception or continue on the big kaori path. At marker #33, you will take the extension of the grand kaori trail which will lead you to a viewpoint overlooking a waterfall before returning to the grand kaori trail. Beware of the long descent which can be slippery in rainy weather and is also used by mountain bikes. You will then reach the kaori area (landmark n° 21), from where you will take advantage of an easy walk to return quietly to the reception area and will pass, after a short climb, in front of the "bread oven", a vestige of the colonial era and a witness of human presence in this remote area.
