The conveyor belt, located at the loading dock for the ore carriers by the sea in the direction of Thio-Mission, is an SLN industrial structure that allows ships to be loaded in a few hours.
In the direction of Mwara beach, you will see the old and modern port facilities of Bota Méré Bay. At the beginning of the 20th century, Thio was New Caledonia's main ore port. It wasn’t unusual to see sailing boats with three, four or even five masts. Nowadays, the ore is evacuated to Nouméa, Japan and Australia by huge ore carriers of 20,000 to 25,000 tonnes.
