The Petroglyphs of Moindou

  • Natural wonder
Moindou 98819 Moindou
Drawings made by the first inhabitants of New Caledonia themselves, they will allow you to trace the history of this island more easily.
These drawings are generally associated with the first inhabitants of New Caledonia. Their dating has not yet been done precisely, but experts estimate that this rock art began with the settlement of the archipelago around 1050 BC and continued until the 1930s.

At the northern exit of Moindou, on the road to the right between the school and the small bridge, always look to your left until you see the sign indicating the petroglyphs. Be careful, as you can only observe them from the road.
