World War II Museum

  • The World War II Museum is located on Avenue Paul-Doumer in downtown Nouméa. Its particular structure was built in 1943 by the American army, which used it to store its equipment.

  • In an American half-moon from the time of the Pacific War, life in New Caledonia during the Second World War is presented: rallying to Free France, departure of Caledonian and Kanak volunteers for the front, expulsion of the Japanese from the colony in the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbour, installation of the rear base of the Australian, American and New Zealand forces in the Caledonian archipelago, but also the metamorphosis of the society.
